We believe each dream deserves a chance

About Us

Madison County, NC is undeniably beautiful. It’s also very rural, with limited industry and, unfortunately, high levels of poverty. The FATE Foundation is a non-profit charity devoted to advancing educational opportunity and enhancing the quality of life in Western North Carolina. Our programs assist those in need and expand opportunities for Madison High School and Madison Early College Senior’s future success through the FATE (Future Achievements Through Education) Scholar Award.

Based on a belief that education is the foundation that can begin to resolve even the most challenging issues and offers a very real path out of poverty and toward prosperity, the FATE Scholar Award was created in 2013 exclusively for Madison High School Seniors who wanted to continue their education. In 2019, the Scholar Award expanded to include seniors at Madison Early College as well.

FATE Foundation presented the first scholar award of $500 to a single student in May 2014. In 2022, through the participation of others, FATE Foundation awarded four students with scholarships totaling $46,000. The FATE Scholar Award is not need based – and, while we do take other things into consideration – the primary focus is on student participation in school, leadership, and community service.
